Engineer  ·  Entrepreneur  ·  Mentor

I built it.
I sold it.
Now I help others
do the same.

Mentoring and advisory for B2B business owners and founders in WA's resources, engineering and technical services sectors who have the traction — and the ambition to build something genuinely worth selling.

Wayne Peel

"Great business owners are held back not by their expertise — but by the commercial engine and the team they haven't yet built. I've been exactly where you are. This is mentoring from someone who has actually done it."

Thirty years in the field. One exit. Now I help others build theirs.

I grew up with engineering in my blood. In my 30+ year career I have helped Engineering, Construction and Technical Services companies grow and scale. When I took on the Managing Director role at Engenium, the business was in flux. What followed was fifteen years of building and rebuilding: from 15 people back from the brink to 200+ across Australia, a successful exit, and an EY Entrepreneur of the Year award along the way.

What I'm most proud of isn't the exit. It's the team. I didn't build Engenium — we did. The people around me were the reason it worked, and building that team was the most important thing I ever did. Every conversation I have with founders starts there.

I now work with a small number of B2B business owners and founders in WA's resources, energy, engineering and technical services sectors — people who have the clients and the skills, but need the commercial engine, the senior relationships, and the leadership structure to scale.

"The shift that changes everything isn't about working harder. It's moving from being the best person in the room to building the best room full of people."

Equity Partnership

Long-term  ·  Selective  ·  By invitation

This isn't offered publicly and it can't be applied for. For a small number of Advisory clients — after we've worked together and I've seen the business up close — I introduce the idea of becoming a genuine partner. Capital, relationships, and active involvement in building something worth owning.

How it starts Advisory Program only — the relationship comes first
What I bring Capital, senior networks, active commercial partnership
How many A small number of partnerships — quality over volume

This is not passive investment. It's active partnership.

For the right Advisory clients, I go beyond the sessions. What I bring isn't theory — it's 30 years of hard-won pattern recognition, senior relationships to open doors, and a structured approach to building the team and commercial engine that will still be standing when you step back. The best partnerships begin here.

From first contact to first session in four steps.

1

Send a note

A brief email is enough. Tell me a little about your business and what you're trying to solve. I read every one personally.

2

30-minute call

No pitch, no agenda. A genuine conversation to understand where you are, what's holding you back, and whether there's a fit.

3

Assess the fit

I work with a small number of people at a time. If it's a good match — for both of us — we discuss how to structure the engagement.

4

Advisory begins

First session within two weeks. We start with your Business Readiness Scorecard and build a clear picture of where to focus first.

Real challenges. Lived experience. No theory.

Mentoring topics reflect what is actually keeping you up at night — not a curriculum set in advance. Sessions are structured around what matters most to you, right now.

This is not consulting.
It's not coaching.
It's something more useful.

Consulting delivers answers. Coaching asks questions. Mentoring does both — grounded in the lived experience of someone who has been in exactly the same seat. For many entrepreneurs, the most valuable insights don't come from theory. They come from someone who has already been there, made the mistakes, and built something worth talking about.
